Simon Pegg was born to Gilian Rosemary (smith) and John Henry Beckingham, the jazz musician Simon John Beckingham in Brockworth, Gloucestershire. When Pegg was seven, his parents divorced. Earlier he took the nickname of his stepfather, "Pegg."He studied English literature and performance studies at the Brockworth Comprehensive Secondary School of Gloucestershire and at Stratford-upon-Avon College. He then received a bachelor's in drama from Bristol University.
