Cando-American actress Kate Nelligan has had a successful acting career in her home country of Canada, in Britain and in the USA. Born on March 16, 1951 in London, Ontario, Patricia Colleen Nelligan was the daughter of blue collar worker Patrick Nelligan and his wife Josephine (born Deir), a school teacher who suffered from alcoholism and mental illness. Nelligan studied at Glendon College, in Toront but left to attend the Central School of Speech and Drama in London.
