Heather Langenkamp was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA. When she was cast as an extra in the Francis Ford Coppola movies The Outsiders (1983) and Rumble Fish (1983), both shot in Tulsa, she got her start in acting. Their scenes have been removed from both films ' final version. She rose to mainstream fame while training at Stanford University when Wes Craven casted her as Nancy Thompson in A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984). She appeared as Nancy in the 1987 sequel A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors (1987), after a series of television guest appearances.
