William MacArthur MacKenzie (March 27, 1957 – January 22, 1997) was a Scottish singer and songwriter who was known for his distinctive voice of high tenor. He was the co-founder and lead singer of the Associates ' post-punk and new wave project.During his career Mackenzie has also worked with several other musicians. Mackenzie had a fruitful relationship with Paul Haig, culminating in low key dates in Glasgow and Edinburgh in the mid-80s, combining their own biggest hits with versions of songs like Sneaky and "Runnin ' Away" from the Family Stone and "Flying on Thin Ice" from Yoko Ono.
